The Denver Juvenile Court, similarly to the Denver Probate Court, is a district-level court that has original jurisdiction over special, limited issues in Denver City and County. It is the only separate Juvenile Court in Colorado. It's unique status could only be removed by constitutional amendment. The Denver juvenile Court turned 100 years old in 2003. It was the first functioning juvenile court in the United States, arose from truancy concepts, and became the second official U.S. Juvenile Court soon after creation of Chicago's Juvenile Court. It has weathered the Ku Klux Klan, major changes in Federal Constitutional law, the 50-year-old change from county court to district court status, and new challenges every day. We invite you
